Phillip John Paoni - Online Memorial Website

I know bits and peices of my grandfather life.  I will share with you what I know.  He was born in West Reading, Pa to Rose Biando and Anthony Paoni.  At a young age he was placed in an orphanage with his sister, Frances.  They were eventaully seperated.  My grandfather went to a boys home in Reading and his sister ended up in California with thier parents.  It wasn't until a few years ago that they had the chance to see one another again.  I am honored to have bared witness to such an amazing reunion.  He left the boys home an joined the marines where he served for three and half years, most of them fighting in Korea. 

The details of how he met my grandmother have never really been communicated to me but I know he always told me how beautiful she was and how they loved to go dancing.  I hear he was quite the dancer in his day.  I know they married in thier living room and had my mother, Tina, and then Tony and the last, the baby was Richard. 

He worked full time at Reading High School as head custodian up until he retired.  He also worked part time for the Reading Eagle.  They last job he held, and loved, was a security guard for Lake Wynonah.  Where he lived for about ten years, until he passed.  He loved it there.

He was a great grandfather and a funny man, full of life until, literally the very last moment of his life.  There is so many stories he had to tell and so many hearts he touched.  I love him and will always remember him.
